Dr. Cusak is a cybersecurity education and talent development professional with a breadth of experience ranging from security operations to keynote speaking. With a background in Public Diplomacy, Dr. Cusak supports CISA as a leadership development expert and training program manager, while also instructing junior technical staff in the art and science of leadership. Research-wise, Dr. Cusak is focused on the professionalization of cybersecurity through transitioning technical workers into first-time leaders.
Dr. Cusak's unique approach to research and instructing has been shaped through his diverse experiences in extreme work environments: helping to mature the U.S. Army's first Cyber Warfare Battalion at the National Security Agency, living the "radical transparency" lifestyle of Ray Dalio's hedge fund at Bridgewater Associates, performing Opera and Improv, instructing snowboarders at the top of Utah's mountains, and managing underwater adventures as a PADI Divemaster.
Dr. Cusak earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Diplomacy from Brigham Young University and dual Master of Science/Arts in International Relations and Public Relations from Syracuse University. He earned his PhD in Instructional Management and Leadership from Robert Morris University.
