David Worthington is a highly experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with over 20 years in cyber security, including more than 15 years in executive leadership roles. He has a long history in Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS), where he has successfully reduced risk while security maturity and capability across critical industries.
David currently works at Jemena, an Australian energy company with electricity and gas distribution, gas pipelines and more. With over a decade of experience in the energy sector, David has navigated contemporary challenges such as Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and the ongoing energy transition. He collaborates closely with boards and senior executives to develop and implement strategic initiatives that ensure compliance with regulatory standards and enhance organizational resilience.
David is an active member of local and international cyber security working groups and standards bodies, dedicated to advancing industry best practices and fostering collaboration. His extensive experience with government regulations and their implementation positions him as a leader in mitigating evolving cyber threats.
He holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology (Information Security) from Deakin University and has been a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2006, underscoring his commitment to excellence in the field.
