Kevin Tyers

Kevin Tyers is a certified SANS instructor, the Senior Manager of Platform Fundamentals at GitHub, and runs the small software company KTWS. With over 15 years of experience across various industries, including government, telecom, healthcare, finance, and technology, Kevin has honed his skills in network engineering and security, incident response, telemetry, and tool development. He boasts an impressive array of certifications, including the GCIH, GPEN, GCIA, GNFA, GCWN, and GCUX.

As a co-founder of the Information Security group DC480 in Phoenix, Arizona, Kevin is an active contributor to the cybersecurity community. He has been a speaker at numerous conferences, including BSidesLV, CactusCon, and SANS Hackfest, both in public and invitation-only settings. Kevin is also a faculty member of the SANS Technology Institute, an NSA Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and multiple winner of the National Cyber League competition.

Outside of his professional life, Kevin is a dedicated family man who enjoys crafting mechanical keyboards, exploring Arizona's scenic hiking trails, and indulging his passion for history.
