The Southeastern Cyber Workforce Alliance (SECWA) is a pioneering program dedicated to developing a diverse, skilled cybersecurity workforce in the southeastern United States. Aligning with the NICE Strategic Plan and the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy (NCWES), SECWA aims to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in the cybersecurity field.

Stage 1: Cyber Foundations: Gain essential skills with the SEC275 course and GIAC certification.

Stage 2: Undergraduate Certificate Scholarships: Top performers advance to pursue further certifications and career opportunities with SANS EDU Applied Cybersecurity Certificate (ACS).

Eligibility

Program seats are open to everyone but are focused on encouraging participation from:

  • Members of underrepresented communities, including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, Latino, Asian American, and Pacific Islander individuals
  • Women
  • Students or alumni from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs)
  • Eligible applicants must reside in one of the following states or districts:
    Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, or the District of Columbia.

Steps to Apply

  2. Take the Aptitude Test: Details and instructions will be provided after submission of the application.
  3. Submit Supporting Documentation: After completing the assessment, applicants will need to provide required supporting documentation. Specific details will be shared during the application process.
  4. Candidate Review: Applications and documentation will be evaluated, and selected candidates will be notified.
